NOTES
Born to a California musician and a Croatian mother; Chris Reed has been passionate, and driven by music since he was in the womb, and practically came out playing a miniature accordion! He is a true artist who is always quenching his thirst for creation and knowledge, which is apparent through his big hearted and honest lyrics. Chris carries a calm and friendly confidence with him on stage, opening up to audiences and bearing his soul through his songs.
This Troubadour began his musical career in blues, funk & reggae bands. He was most noted as the front-man, and creative force of METRO Magazine’s 2010 “Best Band”- the world reggae band Aivar (2006-2011). The band proclaimed a message of a “universal truth of unity” and amongst singing; he played Saxophone, Ukulele, Harmonica and Melodica.
Aivar recorded 3 albums and amongst their many accomplishments, performed with International acts; The English Beat, Collie Buddz, Eek a Mouse, Booker T, and The Dirty Heads. They had multiple performances on Vans Warped Tour, their song “17” was played at 2010’s Miami Fashion Week and after a video interview, Aivar was featured on MTV's website., along with this statement: “Relax and unwind with Aivar, and their smooth, reggae-inspired NorCal jams.” -MTV; 7/14/10 5:39 pmET

Chris hit the studio in the spring of 2011 with former band mate and producer Steven Murr (Murrman Productions) and released his debut solo album “Sweet Destiny” on May 14, 2013. As Jacqueline Ocana of Digin Magazine stated: "Chris Reed, is reinventing himself as a talented singer songwriter... his playful folksy-pop lyrics drip innocence like the soothing sound of ukulele. But deeper in reveals a soulful songwriter, passionate about love and society.” His biggest focus while recording was to make sure his songs were free to define him as a diverse artist. Though Aivar was classified as world music/reggae, Chris’ freshman record feels more like a Pop album sprinkled with a taste of folk with a hint of a cool reggae breeze blowing through.
Aaron Carnes of Metro Magazine wrote in it’s August 14th issue “Celebration” about how Reed “…takes his grab bag of styles and lays it with gorgeous harmonies and uplifting, hopeful lyrics... all while giving it a really laid back, beach-town Sublime feel…”
Sweet Destiny has lead Mr. Reed to be interviewed and printed in various publications and media outlets and was even invited to do a private audition for a major Network TV Show in early summer 2013. He also did an on screen interview in the documentary “Scenes are Temporary, Movements are Forever”(yet to be released) which prompted Content Magazine to print his picture in their spring issue in association with the film.
Though Chris Reed is a San Francisco Bay Area native, he is also an International artist who filmed his 2012 music video “Where has the Sun Gone” in the surf town of; Sayulita, Mexico. His new album has also led his songs; HOPE and the title track “Sweet Destiny” to radio stations in Paris and Marseille, France and onto Radio Marabu, Europe’s leading alternative station, located in Germany, and broadcast all across Europe.
On May 25th, 2013, Chris helped lead the Global March Against Monsanto by creating an anthem, which was used across the world. The theme of this was to raise awareness against the corporate giant Monsanto and their dangerous impact on our earth. Reed’s video for the anthem went viral and received over 7,000 views in the first 24 hours. With unrelenting momentum, Chris performed in June of 2013 at the SUB ZERO Festival in San Jose, CA, after which he was invited to play the Summer Concert Series on the Croatian Island of Brac in the Adriatic Sea. After performing across the island, Reed returned home to find he had won a grant from California Non-profit- GenARTS and Silicon Valley Creates. The grant was to re-record his song: “Because of You” and bring a handful of his students into a professional studio where they would also shoot a music video. And, in late August of 2013 the Chronos Film Festival in Santa Monica, CA placed a music video for the title track: “Sweet Destiny” in the festival.
Being a true Renaissance man; Chris has Written, Directed, and Starred in over 8 original plays/musicals which he toured the West Coast from 2000-2008. He continues to passionately teach and develop classroom music programs, as well as giving music education presentations for 200+ students, and during the school year Chris works with over 500 students a week at 7 different schools.
